The growing environmental crisis has forced textile manufacturers to produce
environmentally friendly products. This is one of the primary reasons that companies are
focusing on sustainable productions. To develop sustainable textiles, significant factors are
linked to eco-friendly material usage, which comprises harmless waste, chemicals, reusing,
and recycling.
This article focuses on the effects on the environment and the contributions made for clean
production for sustaining the environment. The enlargement of the global market is also one
reason that has caused an outburst in damage. For instance, the consumption pattern of rich is
something that shows the uneven distribution.

The Consequence of Textile Production on Our Habitat
The textile business is an important reason for the adverse environmental repercussions. The
fabric portions and wools are harmful solid waste discharged in the atmosphere in abundance.
The textile excess discloses problems associated with unwanted compositions. The severe damage caused by the textile industry is due to the discharge of untreated effluents into the water bodies, which is nearly 80%.
The primary method used is to preserve environmental values and discard factors causing deterioration after being developed. Establishing contamination is also known as  a pipe, a practice that ideates to find ways by which composition and design conditions.
 An approach towards Clean Production
The clean production application is classified into three categories:
● Waste deduction
● Upcycle
● Production Modification
Methods of Waste Deduction
Organizational Preventions

This is the easiest method to create a more reliable composition. This approach is
economically feasible and doesn't require additional expense. This method’s significant
advantage is that the plans can be put into practice immediately after categorizing the
possibilities. This plan's approaches comprise liquid and energy-saving, like closing spring
apertures, maintaining records of chemical dosage, and equipment waste.
Efficient Processing
When talking about Efficient Processing, we mean to say to make a Better Process Control.
This implies that we must keep a proper check of temperature, time and pressure, process
speed, etc. It is essential to check if these are excellent in welding consumables, product, and
waste composition and then making changes accordingly. This needs complicated monitoring
and managing regulatory standards.
Reuse and Recycling
You will be surprised to know that textiles take up a significant proportion of the waste
stream. Material refers to various types of fabrics, including clothing, accessories, shoes,
blankets, etc. a survey done in the year 2014 states that nearly 16.2 million tons of textiles are
dumped almost every year. All the disposed of material can be reused and recycled and can
prevent landfills and deduct the number of pesticides used for growing cotton and synthetic
fibers.
How and What to Recycle/ Reuse?
Textiles that you doesn't t use regularly can be sold to a retailer or a drop-off location instead of
dumping them in the bin. It can be further reused as well in any reasonable or imperfect
condition. There are retail shops and drop off locations that take up used textiles in any
possible situations. If at all, there is anything that cant be used further, it can be recycled.
Donate or Recycle
There are various NGOs, Salvation Army, Savers who use these textiles when served in any
form; the only thing to be noted in this case is that all these textiles should be clean and dry.
The fabrics in any conditions can be left in the donation boxes at the offices of these
foundations. Some schools have contribution boxes added to the academy premises to donate
clothes and other textiles to be reused or recycled.

What happens when you Donate and recycle textiles?
If surveys are to be believed, almost 45% of distributed textiles are reused for various uses.
The other 30% are incorporated to be used into industrial polishers and rags. The rest, 20%,
are recycled as fibers used for furniture stuffing, carpet, and other various uses. Some stores
and businesses sell reused apparel in local or regional areas.
Product Modification
One of the basic ideas to execute cleaner composition to reduce contamination increasing due
to excessive product manufacturing. Improving the product needs to be examined again and
further reduce its density and stiffness. The merchandises need to be designed so that it is not easy
to reuse them, for instance, making required changes to the packaging. In this case, we need to make minimum use of packaging material.
Upcycle and Encourage Sustainable Living
The aforementioned case scenarios tell us how much waste is released off in the textile consumption environment. It is not only a waste of resources but a significant reason behind the increasing landfill. If you cannot find places to distribute and recycle, try to make something out of it for your everyday use. The textile pieces can make crafting items, like cushion covers, laptop covers, warmers, etc.
If you have old towels and blankets, you can contact the local animal shelter; they can use
them for animal bedding during winters. The idea of upcycling is economically feasible and also environmentally friendly. You can give the used textiles another life either as a rag or as a stuffing for the new furniture instead of dumping them and making it an addition to the landfills.
