FAQ

WHAT IS FUR, AND HOW LONG SHOULD FUR LAST?

Fur, just like leather, is a biodegradable, eco-friendly, three-dimensional weaved fiber, which can outlast its owner, if properly made and maintained. Garments can last up to 70 years.

WHAT ARE THE TYPES OF FUR?

Sable, Chinchilla, Mink, Fox, Beaver, Coyote, Raccoon, Rabbit.

WHY BUY A REAL FUR?

Real fur is biodegradable and recycles itself, when put in the ground. Fake, fabricated fur, consists of 5 gallons of oil-petroleum, making it environmentally unfriendly and unsafe.

HOW TO TAKE CARE OF MY GARMENT?

Garments should be stored annually, throughout the spring and summer months. They also need to be cleaned and glazed, regardless if they were never worn, worn once, or even throughout the whole season.

WHY STORE GARMENTS?

Humidity, dryness, warm and hot weather dry the skins and damage the fur. Storing furs in climate-controlled volts also protects from moths and insects.

WHAT TO DO IF GARMENT GETS WET?

Shake it out and hang it in open space- not in a closet. Do not air-dry your garment or hang it next to a heater. If it is soaked, bring your fur in immediately!

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO PURCHASE A FUR OR LEATHER?

Any time of the year would be a good time to make your purchase. When you find what you are looking for, or decide on your custom-made garment, do not hesitate! Treat yourself!

WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO PURCHASE A FUR?

Wherever the fur salon owner can custom-make garments and accessories, on premises, and invites you to participate in the making!

DOES FUR LOSE VALUE?

The only time fur loses value, is when it is not stored properly and therefore, it dries out. Even if your garment is worn-out, it can be sheared and saved!

WHAT SHOULD I DO WITH MY GRANDMOTHERS COAT?

If the fur is in good condition, you can size it to fit you properly, or even redesign it, by adding or removing pieces, changing the sleeves, collar, swing or fitting. Otherwise, if the fur is not manageable, you can save the healthiest pelts and make a purse, throw-on or any accessory you desire.

WHAT TO DO WITH OUTDATED GARMENTS OR GARMENTS THAT LOOK WORN-OUT?

Outdated garments can be restyled/redesigned, which can completely change their look. They can also be sheared or grooved.

WHAT CAN BE MADE OUT OF FUR/LEATHER?

“Anything and Everything”!

WHAT CAN BE COVERED WITH FUR/LEATHER?

“Anything and Everything with a surface”!

HOW TO DRESS-UP A WHOOL-CASHMERE COAT?

You can add a fur or leather trim, collar, or cuffs; change the buttons/zippers/hooks. You can also add lace or embroider it.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IN WARMTH BETWEEN LEATHER AND FUR?

Fur is meant to keep you warm. Leathers are transitional garments. They are more of a fashion statement, meant to make you look cool!

WHAT TO DO FOR FADED LEATHERS?

Faded leathers need professional salon cleaning and color restoration.

WHAT TO DO FOR RIPPED/TORN LEATHERS?
